BECOME A LEADER

Stupid Cancer Happy Hour

Are you passionate about advocacy and social change? Does the color of your ribbon really matter? Hell, do ribbons really matter?

We didn't think so.

At i[2]y, we make leaders every day, helping to empower and transform young adults affected by cancer into the passionate global activists of tomorrow. No more crying in the shower. It's about rolling up your sleeves and taking an active role to ensure the next "you" doesn't have to go through the same crap you did. The status quo is not ok.

The i[2]y Stupid Cancer Task Force, and it's governing body, the Young Adult Leadership Cabinet is an elite, all-volunteer brigade of can-do activists who are out to make some noise, hold the establishment accountable and stand up such that the young adults will no longer be ignored by the system. SCTF members are formally elected and serve as our most vigilant, vocal and active public advocates.
WHAT'S THE DEAL?

First and foremost, SCTF members:
  1. Get it. (Not cancer. Us. That is, unless you got cancer, too.)
  2. Are die-hard activists for I'm Too Young For This!
  3. Love, love, love their 'stupid cancer'
  4. Are single-mindedly committed to the young adult cause
  5. Think, dream and live our brand every single day
  6. Are fed up with ribbons and wristbands
  7. Are tired of running, walking, racing, relaying, striding, sauntering, crocheting, golfing, dancing, knitting and anything else "for the cure"
  8. Want to help out but maybe can't make a financial donation. (Or maybe can but don't want to because medical bills are somehow more important.)
  9. Have zero interest in getting involved with 'big box' cancer franchises where their voice is completely drowned out in a sea of boomers and seniors
  10. Know in their heart that by giving of their time and talent to i[2]y, their voice will be heard and they will actually see results every single day
JOIN US!

Effective Sep, 2009, SCTF membership is by application only.

Roles, responsibilities and goals are determined on an ongoing individual basis during and after the application process. New candidates are mentored by existing members through a training workshop in order to arm them with knowledge, attitude and communications skills to bring i[2]y back to their community and become part of the greater change.

Privileges of membership include individualized i[2]y email addresses, business cards, titles and expense budgets along with exclusive SCTF-only opportunities for media exposure, public speaking, travel and conference planning/attendance.

SCTF is a commitment that you make to yourself, to the cause and to all young adult survivors trying to get busy living while in the fight of their lives. We can't say it'll be easy, but it's damn rewarding.
