YOUR YOUNG ADULT CANCER COMMUNITY
Never feel alone. We wish it to be that simple. Clichè but simple. As far as we're concerned, there is no longer any excuse for any young adult with cancer to be denied the opportunity to take advantage of the wealth of unique and age-appropriate programs, tools and support resources available to them. So welcome to the I'm Too Young For This! global support community of young adults affected by cancer and the official home of the "Stupid Cancer Movement". We're here to stay and the couch is comfy. Why? Because there's more to "the cure" than just research. For better or for worse, change comes slowly and only from within. The need to "cure" cancer for the next generation of survivors – whatever that means – is only coming within our own ranks. Are we on our own? We say that if we're the generation that invented Google, Facebook, Second Life and kept Sanjaya on American Idol all those weeks, we should be able to take care of our own. This is Generation Cancer and it is our fight. We have the sheer numbers, the voting power and the influence to change the rules - because remission is not an excuse for a cure and survivorship is all that matters. Are you in? The time is now. It's time. It's our time. It's about time.
Yes, it sucks but at least you're not alone. So, welcome to the club no one wants to belong to. You might as well make the most of it and get busy living by diving in head first. Stupid cancer. Oh, so the next time your hospital tells you "Our support groups are for adults." or when the little old ladies in the chemo infusion say "You poor thing.", or when a random friend asks, "What no kids yet? What are you waiting for?" or when someone on the street shouts out "Nice Hair!", for the first time in history, someone's got your back. We do. Recommended Reading: "The Taking Tree" |
